Bodog Brand Franchise Leaves the United States

January 2, 2012 - Bodog Brand Franchise Leaves the United States

MMGG Bodog online casino made an announcement in June, 2011, that it would be allowing its agreement with the Morris Mohawk Gaming Group (MMGG) to expire at the end of 2011, due to the uncertainty in the United States online gambling legalization.

However, Bodog and MMGG have decided to terminate the agreement sooner than December 31 and as from Wednesday, December 14th, American players were unable to access the MMGG Bodog online casino and were greeted with a note stating that access to the site was not available from their current location. The note also stated that the Morris Mohawk Gaming Group would no longer be offering its services under license from the Bodog Brand nor would they be able to access the Bodog sites operating from any other jurisdictions.

American players have not been left stranded but can withdraw their funds or alternatively, transfer their account to the new MMGG online gambling portal which will be using the brand name Bovada from the web site at www.bovada.lv which is registered in Latvia.

Although the Bovada web site tag line reads "Same Operator, New Name and Look", American players will find many similarities when wagering at Bovada. The new brand name is derived from the words Bodog and Nevada and offers similar styling and verticals.

Players may sign into the new site, which is also licensed by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission by using their existing user names and passwords. Existing balances have been transferred to Bovada.

Bovada Casino will offer players sports betting, horse race portals and poker that bear similarities to those of the Bodog Brand.

Bovada Casino is also powered by software from Realtime Gaming.
