January 31, 2010 - Online Gambling and Apple iPad
It was a great day for Steve Job on Thursday, 28th January, 2010, when he finally unveiled Apple’s tablet computer, the iPad.
Bloggers, who have not even tried the iPad yet, are already bashing it and complaining about the fact that there is no physical keyboard, no removable battery, far too expensive, no memory-card slot and the fact that it does not multitask.
However, once the iPad actually goes on sale in April there is bound to be a lot of positive reviews and people lining up to buy this new computer.
The online gambling industry in particular is very excited about the launch of the Apple iPad as at the moment those wanting to play at an online casino must either play on a desktop computer, a laptop or a mobile phone. By using the iPad and having the required Wi-Fi or 3G coverage players will be able to play games at instant casinos, like Virgin Casino, which use regular web browsers instead of software that must be downloaded.
Gambling software developers may in future decide to create games specifically designed for the Multi-Touch screen technology which is at the heart of the Apple iPad. This could result in players sliding chips to the appropriate area of the blackjack table in order to place bets or shooting their own dice when playing craps with only a quick sweep of the finger. They also feel that if the iPad becomes popular among poker players then there could be many more instant poker sites opening up in the future.
It looks as though online gambling fans who acquire an iPad could have a lot to look forward to.
