August 17, 2009 - US Gambling Laws Set to Change?
Although online gambling and many other gambling areas were largely banned across the USA, there has been resurgence of late by many bodies to relook these laws. Usually online casinos are at each others’ throats due to the stiff competition, but it is in their best interests to have gaming legalized in the USA once again.
A representative of several of these bodies, Barney Frank, has started the ball rolling and has already garnered much support from international casinos who have pledged to jump back into the US market once the gambling bill has been amended to once again allow online casinos to operate freely in America.
There are two major players in global market who have already taken the next step in readying themselves for a re-entry into the USA. PayPal, one of the largest secure online funds transfer companies, has already started to accept payments made in the UK and is poised to enter the US market as soon as they have the green light.
An even bigger feather in Barney Frank’s cap must be the interest of Party Gaming – the biggest online casino group in the world. A major player like Party Gaming will encourage other smaller online casino groups to jump on board when the time is right.
As it stands, there are many online groups who have expressed an interest in a return to the US market, but many are still too nervous to act too soon. Only time will tell if the law is about to change.
