March 6, 2009 - Wonderful News for Online Casino Players
Great news for all those online casino players out there who have either been worried themselves, or alternatively, have been warned by others that they are likely to develop gambling problems in the future.
Howard Slayton, a compulsive gambling expert, has reported that, despite theories dating back many years that online casinos are likely to lead to problem gambling, people who gamble in land based casinos are more likely to develop addictive gambling habits.
As Slayton points out, "Every detail at brick and mortar casinos is designed in minute detail to lure in players and trap them. Bells and whistles confuse people while giving an outwardly air to gambling floors, lending an illusion of escape to a colorful and inviting world. Clocks and windows are absent, preventing the sudden injection of reality they might generate".
Slayton also claims that "US Politicians think they are helping problem gamblers by denying access to online casinos but the land venues they so happily support for revenue are doing far more damage than the Internet."
The fact that the online casino gambling sites are highly regulated in order to protect the young and vulnerable in the UK also helps to combat gambling problems.
While players are playing online they are less likely to lose track of time than they would in the land venues. There are far more distractions while playing online. The lure of the television, telephone ringing or being disrupted by a family member makes it very difficult to become addicted to online gambling.
